Cover Letter Builder

The Cover Letter Builder uses your CV, job description, and inputs—combined with AI—to create a personalised, role-specific cover letter.

Accessing the Cover Letter Builder

  • Dashboard Quick Access Button 
  • Navigation bar on left-hand side 'Cover letter builder'

To begin building a cover letter, you need:

  • Job Description (JD): Either a full JD or a job title and industry.
    • A full JD to paste into the text box (no URLs, images, or PDFs).
  • CV: Choose a completed THM CV, create a new CV, or use your own CV.

Once the JD or CV route is confirmed, the JD cannot be edited. To change them, you will need to start a new cover letter.

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Job Details

  • Purpose: Surface job specifics
    • Full JD path: AI pre-fills details.
    • No JD: User manually enters details.

Step 2: Experience

  • Purpose: Select relevant job experiences.
    • Choose experiences pulled from THM CV, add new experience
  • Motivation: User writes personal motivation for applying.

Step 3: Skills

  • Purpose: Select relevant skills to mention in your cover letter
  • Technical and Soft Skills: AI-generated based on JD or job title/industry.
    • Add extra skills that suit the role being applied to

Step 4: Skill Detail

  • Purpose: Describe how each selected skill was used in real life (this can include based on work experiences or general lived experiences)
  • Use 'Write with Ruru' for extra support, filling in the details

Step 5: Culture Fit

  • Purpose: Select relevant culture details to mention in your cover letter
  • Culture Values: AI-generated from JD or job title/industry.
    • Add extra skills that suit the role being applied to

Step 6: Culture Detail

  • Purpose: Users describe how they match selected culture/company values.
  • Use 'Write with Ruru' for extra support filling in the details

Step 7: Last Bits

  • Additional Info: e.g. Add visa status, availability, etc.
  • Personal Details: Pre-populated from account settings.

Step 8: Preview

  • Preview: AI-generated from all the details provided 
    • Review and edit cover letter as needed
    • Note: any edits on the preview will be lost if the preview is regenerated (edit any past steps)

Finalisation

  • PDF Generation: Once finalised, a downloadable PDF is created.
